Part 1: Understanding My Organization’s Finances Online Workshop

September 2, 2020@1:00 pm-3:00 pm EDT

Part 1: Understanding My Organization’s Finances

2-hour online workshop

Developing confidence and clarity around financial resources in our organizations is crucial as we continue to build and fight for a just world.

In Part 1 of our workshop series, we’ll go over basic financial concepts and the four most common reports: Profit & Loss, Budget, Cash Flow Projection, and Balance Sheet.  We’ll also share ways to use these tools to put your values front and center in your organizations.

This is an interactive workshop designed for people at all levels of comfort with organizational finances. Whether you feel totally fluent and are looking for ways to more clearly communicate around finances with others, or are an absolute beginner, you are welcome.

Alex Fischer

Alex Fischer brings a social justice perspective to bookkeeping & organizational finances. They believe that financial literacy is critical to building economic justice and creating truly democratic organizations. Alex prioritizes supporting collectively-oriented business and organizations with leadership comprised of queer, trans, & POC folks. They are a self-taught bookkeeper and hold an MBA in Managing for Sustainability from Marlboro Graduate School in Brattleboro, VT. Alex spends a lot of time building community around racial justice through their work with The Root Social Justice Center. They bring games and a liberatory approach to financial management.

Annie Sullivan-Chin

Annie is an all-around nerd who loves teaching herself and others about accounting and organizational finances. She realized she loved accounting when she started working in worker-owned co-ops over 10 years ago. As a bookkeeper, Annie can testify to how critical it is to have our finances in good shape in order to keep doing our important work and make sound business decisions. Connecting financial skill-building with collective liberation is Annie’s passion and she is honored to offer ABC’s bookkeeping and training services to social justice leaders and movement supporters everywhere.
